Rocket Lamp

How to Find the Perfect Shade

How much time do you spend watching the shade for your lamp again? Do you really considered if it will go to your house or if it does not look right on the base? Most do not, they go for something they like, but it's totally wrong to go about this. If you have the wrong shade you could make the base look of the finest horror. However, if you have an amazing color that goes perfectly with the base, it will add something chic to your home.

Choosing the right shade does not rocket science, there are just a few things you should consider. The first thing is the height of the shade. You want something that complements the base rather than making it look too heavy or even bottom-heavy. Go for a shade that is about two thirds of the height from the base will help you with this. This means that you can cover all parts of your unsightly lamp.

The next thing to consider is the width of the shade. It should be at least half an inch wider at each point of most of the base. However, before you go and buy something you probably know is greater, you must think of your lamp, which will go. The last thing you want is to see that you now have no place on your bedside table for your book or you constantly hit by reaching the remote for the TV. You want it to stand out because it looks good, not because it is much too large.

Another thing to consider is the shape of the shade and that means you need to consider the style and shape of your base. If you have a chandelier lamp, then you're lucky, you can buy almost any shade. However, if you have a round base you are the best looking shades round and the same applies to other forms of bases. Matching the shape of the base still looks good.
